What's Next? Candace Thompson Reflects on Dancing Diaspora

This post is a part of a series by SLMDances, as we process our recent participation in the Dancing Diaspora conference in February 2014

Being at the conference at Duke was a centering experience. I was with my dance family, performing, contributing and at the same time absorbing and learning. I still can't fully articulate all my feelings and thoughts about it, but the words that come to mind are on this scrapbook page entry.

Candace Thompson, a Trinidad and Tobago native, graduated from Adelphi University with the Ruth St. Denis Award for excellence in the dance department. She has since had the honor to dance with Andrea E. Woods/Souloworks; David Gordon; Germaul Barnes/Viewsic Expressions Dance; INSPIRIT, a dance company; Leda Meredith; Trebien Pollard, Brooklyn Ballet and Forces of Nature Dance Theater.

Currently, she works with Makeda Thomas, and is the Rehearsal Director for Sydnie L. Mosley Dances.
