One of the most breathtaking elements about the topography of Rio is its hills and mountains. Not only are they beautiful to look up at, but they also provide beautiful views from their peaks. I don't know if it is the clouds descending or the mountains ascending, but often times the clouds sit right on the mountains or the land. With some man made help - cable cars and vans - we were able to see eye to eye with the mountains, and overlook the clouds.
The day of New Year's Eve we visited Pao de Acucar (Sugar Loaf):
And Saturday, amidst the cold, rain, and very strong winds (that blew my dress up Marilyn Monroe style) we visited Christ the Redeemer:
